hello, my name is varrah.
i’m a director and interdisciplinary artist working across video, poetry, and fiction.

my work is rooted in themes of ecological and political grief, unrelenting presence, time, and memory. i’m interested in feeling as a survival tactic—and in how collective tenderness might open a path toward systemic repair.

i’m currently developing a slate of projects: a debut book tracing a journey from grief to love, a feature-length script on consciousness, and a short film about the choice to flee war, now in pre-production.

before working as varrah, i directed and produced commercial projects as varya rootwood, earning two webby awards and presenting work on platforms ranging from amazon prime to the metropolitan museum of art.

thank you for meeting me.
